100 DWI ARRESTS. And itā€™s only September.

During Labor Day No Refusal, Officer Carter reached a major milestone by making his 100th DWI arrest of 2026.

As a member of our DWI Unit, Officer Carter spends his nights taking impaired drivers off the road and helping keep our community safe.

Reaching 100 arrests this early in the year is no small accomplishment. It represents countless hours on the road, dedication to the job, and a commitment to stopping impaired driving before someone gets hurt.

SATURATION SATURDAY RECAP

Another successful Saturation Saturday is in the books, ending in 4 DWI arrests between midnight and 4 AM.

If you were wondering, Irving PDā€™s DWI Unit is a full-time team of 4 officers and 1 sergeant. Our DWI officers are specially trained to identify and investigate impaired driving. Their proactive efforts help prevent crashes, injuries, and potentially tragic consequences before they happen. You will see them across the city year-round, focused on keeping our roadways safe.

Reminder: When you see emergency vehicles stopped on the roadside with lights activated, slow down and move over when possible. Give our officers and all first responders the space they need to do their jobs safely.

If you plan to drink, make a plan before you go. And if you see a suspected impaired driver and you (or a passenger) can do so safely, call 9-1-1 and provide as much information as possible.

Please join us in congratulating School Resource Officersā€™ Stump, Becerra and Pen*ston on their recent graduation from the SBLE Master Course. The course put on by the Texas School Safety Center, requires serious commitment to progress through the 128 hours of training classes.

These officers have invested in expanding their knowledge and skills on effective strategies to proactively work together with our schools and our community. We are proud of their dedication to keep Irvingā€™s students, educators, and schools safe!

Last week we celebrated the retirement of Reserve Lieutenant Mark Allen. He has proudly served the department for 32 years as a reserve officer and was a proud member of the Honor Guard. Despite having a career outside of the department, he still willingly volunteered his time to protect and serve others. Thank you for your dedication, commitment, and service to our department and the Irving community. Happy retirement!

Itā€™s Saturation Saturday!

Tonight, weā€™re hitting the streets with our DWI Unit for a social media ride-along as they work to identify and remove impaired drivers from our roads. Follow along with us on our Facebook and Instagram stories throughout the evening as we give you a behind-the-scenes look at what our officers see and do during a DWI enforcement operation.

If you plan to drink, make a plan before you go. Consider using a taxi or rideshare service, a designated driver, or public transportation as a safe alternative to driving after drinking.

And if you see a suspected impaired driver and you (or a passenger) can do so safely, call 9-1-1 and provide as much information as possible.

Follow along tonight as we work to keep impaired drivers off our roads and everyone safer.
