DSA North Texas The official page for the North Texas chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), the largest socialist organization in the United States.

Democratic Socialists of America believe that both the economy and society should be run democratically to meet human needs, not to make profits for a few. We are a political and activist organization, not a party; through campus and community-based chapters DSA members use a variety of tactics, from legislative to direct action, to fight for reforms that empower working people.

🚨 Do it for Oak Cliff!

On May 28th, an apartment complex tragically exploded in Oak Cliff due to a gas leak. Three were killed in the explosion and several more were injured. As much of our organizing is done in Oak Cliff and the surrounding neighborhoods, we feel deeply for those affected and grieve with neighbors in our community. Many of our own Dallas-based members immediately sprung into action to provide assistance, funds and donations in support of the people affected.

We are taking it one step further and asking folks to donate to our Venmo account() with “Oak Cliff” in the memo line. We will match any funds donated with the Oak Cliff memo up to $500 and use all of it to provide direct material assistance to the people affected by the explosion. Every bit helps.

The City of Dallas continues to cut ✂️ every part of our budget except for the police! 🚔

On Wednesday, Dallas residents and DSA North Texas members spoke out against the proposed $14 million in cuts to the Parks & Recreation department which include aquatic centers 🏊 and DISD daytime programming 🏫, services that working class families depend on.

Never on the chopping block are the cops or their tools of mass surveillance like Flock cameras! 📸Especially when public safety makes up two thirds of the general fund, and uniformed overtime is the biggest overpay in our budget. 📈

At nearly 1000 members strong, we have seen tremendous growth and success this past year, but we know DSA North Texas’s best days lie ahead 🌹 🌹

🇨🇺DSA North Texas was proud to participate in the Nuestra America Convoy which delivered large quantities of food, medicine, and other supplies to Cuba. As a show of our support and solidarity with the Cuban people, we did a banner drop over I-75 in Dallas along with our comrades in and .
Now the Trump administration has intensified the illegal and cruel economic warfare against Cuba and has even said military action is on the table. The blockade has caused strain on all facets of daily life on the island including power blackouts, extreme hunger, disruptions in medical care, and infant death in hospitals. All of this is done just because Cuba refuses to bend the knee to US imperialism.

We demand an end to all US sanctions against Cuba and join millions around the world in saying, “LET CUBA LIVE!”
