Introducing: Understanding Fear, by Genesis the Podcast. Listen along to our new four-part series as we get more comfortable with a typically uncomfortable topic - fear. Fear is an inherent part of our survival and can be a useful tool in navigating our surroundings, but for survivors of domestic violence that fear may be linked to the trauma they've endured in such a way where their brains and bodies do not want to engage with it. That reaction is completely valid and part of your body's response to keep you emotionally or physically safe.

On Part 1 of our Understanding Fear series, host Maria MacMullin and Genesis Chief Residential Officer Jordyn Lawson take a deeper dive into the chemical and biological responses to fear - how it may manifest in our bodies, how trauma can impact our receptors to fear and techniques anyone can do to help regulate their nervous system as they navigate a fearful experience or memory.

LGBTQIA+ survivors matter.

Every woman deserves to be in healthy, loving relationship, and that’s not exclusive to heterosexual relationships. This Pride Month, we aim to shed light on some of the ways LGBTQIA+ people experience domestic violence, and uplift organizations who are affecting positive change in the Dallas q***r community.

We see you, and we stand with you 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

If you or someone you know may be experiencing domestic violence, call or text our 24-hour helpline: 214-946-HELP (4357)

Hold the screen for an exercise in self-compassion ✨

Self-compassion is the practice of showing yourself compassion when you suffer, fail, or feel inadequate. While we often think about compassion as a way to interact with those around you, giving yourself the same amount of grace you give others can help build a positive self image and can improve both physical and mental wellbeing. This Mental Health Awareness Month, give yourself permission to do what’s best for you, and allow yourself to find comfort in your kindness 💚
