Today, 4th & 5th grade students had the incredible opportunity to host award-winning author Sarah Farizan! From hearing about the inspiration behind her incredible stories to learning what it takes to bring characters to life, our students were completely captivated from start to finish.

Events like this help spark a lifelong love for reading and remind our students that their own voice, ideas, and stories matter. A huge thank you to Sarah Farizan for spending time with us and inspiring our next generation of writers! 📖✏️

As our wonderful kindergarten teacher, Ms. Harper makes starting school an exciting, warm, and joy-filled adventure for our youngest learners. Setting the tone for a brand-new school year is no easy feat, but her classroom is always bursting with patience, endless creativity, and welcoming smiles that make every child feel at home. 🌟

Welcome Our Security Guard, Matthew Bolack!

Matthew Bolack is a proud RISD alumnus, having attended RISD schools and graduated from Berkner High School. He earned his degree from Texas Tech University and spent 30 years in the semiconductor industry. Education is a family tradition, as his mother retired from RISD and his wife, Lauren, is also an RISD employee.

Matthew and Lauren have two sons: Jadon, a Berkner graduate studying engineering at the University of Kansas, and Conner, a junior at Richardson High School and a member of the football team. They also share their home with two German Shepherds.

In his free time, Matthew enjoys hiking, fishing, skiing, and spending time on the water. He is also a car enthusiast and enjoys attending car shows with his restored 1967 Firebird.

Matthew is excited to join the LHE community and support the RISD vision. We are thrilled to welcome him to our campus!
