From Councilmember Willis:

I am so sorry that several residents who came to the City Council meeting yesterday were not able to speak on the zoning case. I know it was inconvenient to wait for hours as council went into closed session to discuss two critical legal issues. When the meeting resumed, there were still items on the regular Council agenda that had to be heard before the zoning agenda could begin. We’ve had prior complaints about speaker wait times. The council agendas can be “fluid” causing agenda items to move and public speakers are asked to wait. Those postponements are frustrating, and I’m sure those feelings were exacerbated when you were waiting in a very cold council chamber.

Very importantly, however, there is some good news to report. I deferred the zoning case until September 23rd because the developer is preparing some important revisions to the plan. In fact, I believe the changes will be welcomed by the neighborhood. I’ve been promised that you will be able to review these changes very soon.

Again, I am very sorry for the inconvenience some of you experienced yesterday. You are welcome to share your comments with me at [email protected] and to speak at the meeting on September 23rd or at any other Council meeting. Thank you for your interest in neighborhood issues. I am hopeful there will be a resolution in this case that is acceptable to you and your neighbors.
