The Sunnyvale Police Department says 14-year-old Ogechi Anusionwu has been found safe and reunited with her parents. Ogechi had left home early on June 5.

Sunnyvale Police Chief Bill Vegas expresses his sincere appreciation to the department officers and other local, state and Homeland Security officials for providing assistance and resources that helped bring her home.

A message from Chief Bill Vegas:

The Sunnyvale Police Department is aware of a community social post regarding a missing juvenile report.

Sunnyvale PD wants to reassure the public that our detectives are aware of this and are working closely with the juvenile’s parents, as well as state and federal partners, to locate the juvenile.

The missing juvenile is named Ogechi Anusionwu, a 14-year-old female last seen entering a silver SUV on June 5 at 5 a.m. in Sunnyvale.

If you have information that may help locate the missing juvenile, please call 911 and notify the local authorities. Sunnyvale PD can be reached at (972) 226-4606.

We were glad to find that this notification was a false alarm. We are committed to respond and partner with Sunnyvale Independent School District in the protection of students and staff!

May 5, 2026
Today, Sunnyvale Intermediate School briefly went into a lockdown after a student injury on the playground.
There was no threat to students or staff at any time. However, a staff member activated their emergency badge multiple times, which automatically alerted 911 and prompted emergency response personnel to arrive on campus.

Local law enforcement responded quickly, confirmed there was no danger, and the campus resumed normal operations shortly afterward.

We understand that any lockdown can be concerning, and we want to reassure you that student safety is always our top priority. We are reviewing procedures with staff to ensure clear communication and appropriate use of emergency systems moving forward.

Got a call about a calf 🐄 stuck in a pond and needing a rescue squad. We may not have a lasso on our belt, but our officers are Jack-of-all-trades, especially when it comes to ranching tasks and saving the day! 🤠
