ALL of OUR efforts aren’t for awards or recognition. In reality, there is no awards for service. Service is done bc of a need we see in our communities. We serve bc its is something we are compelled to & must do. We see hurt & we must love & heal. ❤️

Members of Uplift Charleston spent their Thanksgiving giving out truckloads of donations to the homeless community and others in need.

UPLIFT YOUR EYES AND CONFRONT THE UNCOMFORTABLENESS OF HOMELESSNESS:

We all suffer from a SIMILAR affliction. We drive through our communities each day, CHOOSING to ignore those around us who are homeless. It’s so EASY and CONVENIENT to do. ALL too often we witness a person in need at an intersection, bus stop, or LITERALLY sleeping on the street. We just keep driving as if they’re INVISIBLE because it’s COMFORTABLE. We look DOWN and avoid making eye contact, CHOOSING to ignore their plight. Lord knows I’ve been guilty of it too. However, I challenge ALL of us to embrace a NEW standard of comfort by beginning to LIFT UP our eyes and SEE those who were once invisible. Seeing is NOT enough. We must see, hear, and help them. ❤️

Those who fight to help the homeless every day in our communities do so out of PASSION, not for PAYCHECKS. In my eyes, Those who DO get paychecks seem to have LOST their passion for representing ALL who live in their communities. They CERTAINLY have passion for those who can vote for them but are BLIND to the plight of our homeless population for decades. This is unacceptable. ✌️
