Pollinators like bees, moths, butterflies, and hummingbirds, provide 1 out of 3 bites of food we eat, according to the USDA. Post Oak Preserve will be temporarily closed effective June 16th. Construction crews will be on the preserve to resurface the paved trail. The estimated date of reopening is October 28, but it is dependent on the weather. We will announce when the preserve is reopened.

Last week, our amazing volunteers accomplished so much in Dallas County Preserves! 🌳

At Cedar Mountain Preserve, we tackled a massive task of removing invasive privet to restore some much-needed habitat for our native species. It was a big job, but the team worked tirelessly to clear the area, making way for the local wildlife to thrive. We're so grateful they for their hard work and dedication!

At Post Oak Preserve, we were thrilled to have our friends at Texas Conservation Alliance join us for a fun-filled morning of creating native garden beds near the preserve sign. We designed the beds to showcase a variety of beautiful native plants that might be found in a Post Oak Savannah. Plus, we even had some time to pick-up litter along the preserve boundary.

This Saturday from 8 AM - 10 AM, we're coming together to help care for Post Oak Preserve, and we'd love to have you join us!

We'll be tackling litter along the preserve boundary and working alongside Texas Conservation Alliance to plant native species in new garden beds near the preserve sign. These improvements will help create a cleaner, more welcoming space while supporting local wildlife for years to come. 🌱🦋

The litter pick-up event is expanding in a big way! Texas Conservation Alliance is graciously bringing along some native plants to make garden beds near the Post Oak Preserve sign, which will not only beautify the area but also help support local wildlife. 🌳 With the litter build-up on the preserve property boundary being a major concern, and the garden beds requiring some TLC, we need more hands to make sure we get these tasks done! 🤝. Let's work together to make a difference and leave the Post Oak Preserve looking better than ever! 🌟

Unfortunately, tomorrow's National Trails Day Event at Joppa Preserve has been cancelled. The heavy rain overnight, coupled with more rain expected during the event, has created conditions unsuitable for litter and invasive species removal.

🌟 A huge THANK YOU to our amazing volunteers who were ready to roll up their sleeves!

On a brighter note, we have another volunteer opportunity coming up next Saturday (June 13) at Post Oak Preserve. Thanks to the generosity of Texas Conservation Alliance, we will be planting native species to create garden beds at the preserve's entrance. This is a big project, and we'd greatly appreciate all the help we can get 🌷

We have some important work to get done at Dallas County Preserves and we need your help! 🌳 There are two public volunteer events coming up in June, and we'd love for you to join us for one (or both!) of them. Whether you're a nature lover, looking to get conservation experience, or just looking for a way to give back, these events are a great opportunity to make a difference. We'll be tackling projects that will help preserve the beauty and ecology of our natural areas, and we can't do it without volunteers like you. So, mark your calendars for June and get ready to get involved! 📅 If you can make it out, we'll provide the tools and guidance - you bring the energy and enthusiasm! 💪

Our Preserve Rewind Series is coming to an end 🍃

Today, we’re highlighting Trinity River Mountain Creek Preserve, one of the first preserves in the Dallas County system. Acquired in 1984 through Texas Parks and Wildlife Department grant funding, the preserve has grown into a community destination featuring 4 miles of paved trails, cricket fields, a pavilion, picnic tables, benches, a basketball court, and a playground. The preserve also serves as an access point to the Campion Trail System, which is master-planned to expand to 22 miles of paved trail by 2028.
