♻️Cloverdale Elementary Recycling Drop-Off Site to Close -
Curbside Pick-up and GFL Drop-Off Site Provide Options

The Cloverdale Elementary recycling drop-off location will permanently close on July 1, 2026, and will no longer be available for public recycling drop-offs.

Read More:
https://www.botetourtva.gov/m/newsflash/home/detail/1131

To ensure continued recycling service, residents who use the Cloverdale Elementary site are encouraged to take advantage of curbside recycling options, or take their recyclable materials to the:

📍GFL Convenience Center
2045 Lee Highway
Daleville, VA 24083

Why the Site Is Closing
The Cloverdale Elementary recycling location has been the site of illegal dumping for years despite management and enforcement efforts to prevent it. As a result, recyclable materials are often contaminated and unable to be recycled, increasing costs and defeating the purpose of the site.

The closure aligns with the County's plan of transitioning recycling operations to the dedicated GFL Convenience Center in Daleville. The GFL convenience center was established in 2022 to provide residents with a full-service and staffed location for recycling and waste disposal services, while reducing the environmental and operational challenges associated with unstaffed drop-off sites.

For questions regarding accepted materials or other recycling services, visit botetourtva.gov/recycling or contact GFL Environmental at (540) 992-6000 EXT 3.

Thank you for helping keep Botetourt County clean and sustainable.

Proposed Grocery Store Advances to Board of Supervisors Review

A proposed full-service grocery store in Daleville Town Center is moving to the next stage of the review process following a unanimous recommendation from the Botetourt County Planning Commission during their June 8th meeting.

The proposal requires two Special Exception Permits, which will be considered by the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors during its June 23 meeting.

The project includes a roughly 50,000-square-foot grocery store planned near the intersection of Roanoke Road and Glebe Road. Preliminary plans indicate the store would feature a bakery, deli, butcher, and pharmacy.

As part of the review process, a Traffic Impact Analysis identified potential roadway improvements to accommodate future traffic, including consideration of a signalized intersection at Roanoke Road and Glebe Road.

The Board of Supervisors will review the Planning Commission's recommendation and receive public input before making a final decision on the permit requests.
