A big thank you to the Town of Colonial Beach and the Colonial Beach Volunteer Fire Department for inviting us to Grand Marshal the “Nation’s Loudest” Fireman’s Parade at their 75th Anniversary Potomac River Festival. Our personnel were well greeted by the patrons on hand. It is always nice to interact with the communities we serve.

06/07/26: Units from Dahlgren responded to the Ebb Tide section of Westmoreland County for the House Fire. First arriving units found smoke and fire visible from a single family home. Crews from Co.28 assisted on scene for several hours before being released. Our thoughts are with the family and the community involved.

5/3/26: Dahlgren crews went to work twice over the last couple days. On Friday, Rescue Engine 28 and Paramedic 289 responded for the shed on fire and arrived to extinguish the same. Saturday morning, Boomtown units responded to Fairview Beach for the House Fire. Units arrived to find a deck on fire with extension. Truck 28 and Battalion 28 worked on ventilation and providing manpower.

4/1/26: Just after midnight, Company 28 was dispatched to Kinsale for a commercial building fire. Truck 28 assisted with cutting and opening up building materials and flowing elevated master streams. Rescue Engine 28 was assigned Water Supply and supplied over 150,000 gallons of water to two aerials and hose lines. Crews operated on scene for over 5 hours before being released.

A big thank you to King George Fire & Rescue for allowing a couple of our personnel to attend their Ice Rescue Technician course. This course provided the knowledge, skills and abilities to respond to cold water/ice rescue incidents. NSF Dahlgren hosts 7 miles of shoreline of the Potomac River and is divided by the Machodoc Creek. It is imperative that NDWFD and our partners are prepared for these types of incidents.
