During an earthquake, follow these steps for safety:
Drop, Cover, and Hold On: Drop to your hands and knees, cover your head and neck with your arms, and seek shelter under a sturdy piece of furniture. Hold on until the shaking stops.
Stay Indoors: If you are inside, stay inside. Do not run outside during the shaking, as falling debris can be dangerous.
Stay Away from Windows: Keep away from glass, windows, mirrors, and heavy objects that could fall.
If Outdoors: Move to an open area away from buildings, streetlights, and utility wires. Drop to the ground and cover your head.
If Driving: Pull over safely to the side of the road, stop, and remain in the vehicle with your seatbelt fastened until the shaking stops.
After the Shaking Stops: Check yourself and others for injuries. Be cautious of potential hazards such as gas leaks, fires, or structural damage. If you smell gas, turn off the gas supply and leave the building.
Follow Official Instructions: Listen to emergency services and follow their guidance for evacuation or other safety measures.
Be Prepared: Have an emergency kit with essentials ready, including water, food, medications, and a flashlight.
Stay calm and prioritize safety to minimize risks during and after an earthquake.
