Our first 4-H Summer Programs are coming up in just 2 weeks! We have our Fun With Flowers Class on June 3, and our summer-long programs Garden and Grow and the Great Outdoors Club both kick off. Registration can be done through 4HOnline or by calling us at 256-825-1050. We can't wait to see you!🍀

This past weekend, Briley Mann competed in the Alabama 4-H Horse Show. She finished 2nd in ranch pattern, 4th in ranch rail, and 3rd in ranch ground handling. Way to represent Tallapoosa County, Briley!

🔦VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT🔦

Katherine is the leader of our monthly 4-H Eco-Arts Club. She uses her amazing creativity to plan, prepare, and facilitate art activities for our 4-Hers that incorporate materials found in nature. The activities she has led include propagating plants, decorating flowerpots, using plants to dye and decorate fabrics, creating art on cyanotype paper using sunlight, creating cards with recycled materials, and countless other projects.

Katherine wanted to learn more about the state’s natural resources when she moved to Alabama. She discovered the science-based Master Naturalist program and fell in love with it. Part of the curriculum is volunteering, so she chose to become a 4-H volunteer.

“I decided to combine my passion for nature with my passion for art to start the 4-H Eco-Arts Club. I hope the club helps kids learn to appreciate the beauty of nature and feel compelled to protect it in the future. I try to design art projects so that the kids feel good about what they created and about themselves, too.”

We are so thankful for the time and materials she generously donates to teach our 4-Her's about appreciating nature and the beauty that can be found within it!
