🚔 National Police Week | May 10–16, 2026 🚔

What an incredible week for the City of Dacono and the Dacono Police Department!

On Monday, Mayor Adam Morehead honored our officers with an official proclamation at the City Council meeting, formally recognizing May 10–16, 2026 as National Police Week in the City of Dacono. We are grateful for the Mayor's and Council's continued support of our department and the men and women who serve this community every day.

On Wednesday, the City of Dacono and the Dacono Police Department hosted a BBQ to celebrate all of Dacono's public safety family, and this year we were proud to also recognize our Public Works team, as this week is also National Public Works Week! These are the dedicated professionals who keep our city safe, clean, and running, and they deserve every bit of this celebration. 🛠️🚒👮

To our officers, our public safety partners, and our public works crew, thank you for your faithful service to the Dacono community. We are proud to stand alongside you.

This National Police Week, one of our own did something truly special.

Jennifer Walje — who oversees our Records and Property Bureau — hand-crafted what she calls a "Hero Hug": a small wooden badge, engraved with each officer's badge number, to carry with them wherever the job takes them.

Each one comes with a simple message that says it all:

"Carry this little shield no matter where you go — covering you with strength until you are safely home."

Jennifer knows this life from both sides of the badge. As the wife of a police officer, she understands the quiet courage it takes to put the uniform on every single day — and the families who wait for them to come home.

To Jennifer: thank you for seeing our officers so fully, and for reminding them they are carried — always.

Happy National Police Week to all who serve, and to the families who serve alongside them. 💙

We are proud to share that Dacono Police Department's School Resource Officer, Brandon Arrick, was honored this week at the Great Plains Field of Honor in Fort Lupton.

Since 2020, dedicated volunteers have transformed the Pearson Park ball fields into an awe-inspiring tribute recognizing the selfless service of veterans, first responders, and public servants—both living and those we’ve lost—across Colorado and the nation. It’s a powerful space to gather, reflect, and inspire future generations to carry forward the values of honor, community, and service.

Brandon was recognized with two flags—one generously purchased by a parent and another by the Homyak K-8 PTSA.

We’re grateful for Brandon and the positive impact he makes in our school community every day.
