On March 28th, 2023, at approximately 7:00pm the Cyril Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a White Nissan Murano that was traveling at 51 MPH in a 35 MPH zone. Upon speaking with the driver Gelin Wilfred out of Florida officers then smelled the odor of ma*****na coming from the vehicle. The driver stated that he was a Medical Ma*****na transporter out of OKC. After investigating his licenses and documents Wilfred was placed under arrest for Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance with intent to distribute. The Cyril Police Department seized approximately 17.23 pounds of Ma*****na from Wilfred. He was arrested on this charge due to the fact he was not transporting the Ma*****na properly. The ma*****na was not in a secured container and was not labeled properly. Please take this as a learning lesson that it is okay to transport Medical Ma*****na, but please do it the right way and follow all the rules and guidelines set in place for transporting.
