Have you seen the Butterfly Garden at Battle Grove Cemetery, KY? 🦋

Check out these pollinators at work right here in Cynthiana! This beautiful little garden is situated by the vault, right in the heart of the cemetery. It’s a great opportunity to show you kids exactly how pollination happens and how these beautiful creatures help!

Check out some of our Backyard Local Cost Share projects! 👩‍🌾

These two participants both opted for raised beds this year, and we are impressed with how well they turned out! Both practical, both well managed, and both well suited for their garden projects.

🌱Last week we attended NRCS’s Local Working Group Meeting in Fayette County, and here’s what we learned:

- Farmers are eager to implement the state and federal programs available! Especially after learning what all programs are available

- There’s a large push for more Urban programs! We are fortunate to offer the Backyard Local Cost Share project in our district, but we’re interested to hear the other needs urban agriculturalists may have!

- many agencies are working hand in hand with NRCS to help people with their farming and conservation practices!

☀️ This week kicks off summer school, so stay tuned for some fun updates! ☀️

It was awards day in Harrison County. We got the chance to recognize our Charles Tribble Scholarship recipients and Jim Claypool Art & Writing winners in front of their peers!

Here’s a few pictures of our winners. We hope that each and every one of our award recipients know just how proud we are of their hard work on their entries. ❤️

🌱Dear farmers, conservation advocates, and community members,

You’re invited to join the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and local conservation districts for a meeting to help set conservation priorities for your community and across Kentucky. Your input will directly guide USDA Farm Bill programs and ensure conservation efforts remain locally led.

From agriculture and water quality to urban projects and community spaces, this is your opportunity to share ideas, challenges, and priorities. NRCS supports both rural and urban conservation, and your voice helps shape it all.

Insights from these meetings will inform the NRCS State Technical Committee and influence conservation programs at every level.

Join the conversation. Share your perspective. Help shape what comes next.

🍯 Happy World Bee Day! 🐝

Did you know you don’t have to be a beekeeper to help & protect bees? You can:
- plant pollinator friendly flowers
- make little bee houses for solitary bees
- opt for sustainable food choices
- buy local honey & bee products
- reduce the use of harmful chemicals like pesticides
- leave nesting sites for ground nesting bees
- plant hedgerows

By doing any of these practices, you will help & protect bees and other pollinators in our ecosystem!
