On February 10th 2022, Cuyahoga Heights Fire Department retiree John Pallini passed away. John worked at CHFD for 25 years, retiring as a Captain in 1991. Upon retirement, John and his wife, Dorothy, moved and settled in Murrells Inlet, SC where they lived for over 30 years. We are grateful for his years of service and send our deepest condolences to his family and friends.

This past Wednesday, Cuyahoga Heights Fire Department retiree, James Koran, passed away. James worked at CHFD for 34 years from 1964 to 1998. He retired as Assistant Chief after serving as Captain and Lieutenant. After retiring from Cuyahoga Heights he served as Fire Chief in Brimfield Township for 10 years. James was married to Patricia for 58 years until she passed away in 2015. He was father to 6 children; Sue, Jan, Carrie, Jimmy, Amy and Patrick. His son Patrick currently serves as Captain for Cuyahoga Heights Fire Department. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. We are grateful for his years of service and send our deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Yesterday, Cuyahoga Heights Fire Department retiree, James (JR) Bloam, passed away. JR’s career with CHFD started in 1979. During his career he was a CPR instructor for the community. In 1987, as Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) coordinator, he started the MDA 50’s Dance and Car Show. The annual event raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to benefit MDA. JR retired to Arizona in 2010. James leaves behind wife Janet and his four children; Jennifer, Allison, Jeffery and Nicole. Cuyahoga Heights Fire Department is grateful for his 31 years of service and send our deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Cuyahoga Heights Fire Department would like to thank the Independence Fire Department for assisting our department in receiving the Covid-19 vaccine along with the Cuyahoga County Board of Health. It is the first step in protecting our firefighters and the residents we serve.
