We are grateful for Captain Tim Lombardi (CFFD, retired) and his 34 years of service to the city and his honorable work done with his deployment to Ground Zero in the days after the 9/11 attacks.

Captain Tim Lomdardi (CFFD, retired) delivered remarks this morning to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Captain Lombardi deployed with the Ohio Urban Search And Rescue Task Force 1 and searched through the debris pile at Ground Zero in New York City for twelve days, looking for survivors and recovering those lost. Captain Lombardi always remarked that he spent a large portion of his career honing his craft and that September 11th was the moment that all the hard work and dedication prepared him for. We are forever grateful for your dedication and service, Captain Lombardi.

Fire Incident Update - Front Street

At approximately 09:10 p.m. CFFD was requested for the report of heavy black smoke in the 2400 block of Front Street.

Cuyahoga Falls Battalion 1, Engine 1, Engine 2, Tower 3, Engine 4, and Ladder 5 responded. Mutual Aid was requested and received from Akron, Tallmadge, and Stow.

The fire was located in the rear vehicle service area of a large commercial building, and quickly extinguished. Fire crews will remain on scene for an extended period of time to ventilate smoke from the building in every effort to minimize damages.

No Injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

No further updates are anticipated to be provided.

Hazardous Condition Alert – Standing Water

Please drive with extreme caution.

Numerous Cuyahoga Falls streets are reported to have standing water and/or disabled vehicles. Do not attempt to drive through flooded roadways. Turn Around, Don’t Drown. Even a small amount of moving water can carry a vehicle away.
