Attention pool seekers, the 2026 pool season is among us. Look here for the details for this year!

Curtis Pool is opening June 1st for the season.

Our 2026 pool season will be from June 1st through early August, closing date not yet set in stone.

Hour of operation:

Monday through Friday -1pm-5pm and 6:30pm to 8pm
Saturday and Sunday - 1 pm to 5pm

Adult swim weekdays 5pm-6:30

Swimming pool rentals are available hiring non scheduled business hours. For rates and availability please contact the pool manager.

2026 Swimming Lessons:

Swimming lessons will occur July 6-10 and 13-17.

Cost is included in pool pass. For individuals not having a pass, the cost is $3.00 per day

Private lessons may be available with lifeguards. Please contact pool manager for price and availability.

Pool prices:

Daily Admission - $3.00
Baby pool - Free

Passes are available now:

Season pass:

Family - $100.00

Individual - $60.00

Monthly pass:

Family - $50.00

Individual - $30.00

Family passes are limited to immediate family living under same roof. (Ex. Husband, Wife, children, college students under 22) No Extended Family

We welcome you to the pool for the summer, and appreciate your support. Always remember to wear sunscreen. Have a great, and safe swim season.

If you have valuable or personal items at the Curtis cemetery please remove them so workers can begin preparing the area for Memorial Day weekend this week.

There is not always much room between the graves for the mowers and we don’t want anything damaged.

⚠️Detour Information for Road Closure ⚠️

Starting Monday the 18th of May through Friday the 22nd of May.

Center Avenue will be closed from 6th street to 7th street for through traffic.

Large vehicle detour Southbound will be East on Seventh to Prentiss, South on Prentiss to University, East on University to Semino and Semino south to Highway 23

Detour for Northbound will be 6th Street east to Custer, Custer north to 8th, and 8th back West to Center Ave.

Lane Closure at 5th and Custer to allow for the city to repair a water main leak under the road.

Traffic will need to navigate using a single lane of traffic in the area until the leak is repaired and concrete can be poured and have time to cure.

Nominations are due APRIL 30th by the end of the day!!!

***UPDATE 4:00pm 4/1/26: We are expecting to be generating electricity through the night into tomorrow morning now. We apologize about the noise in advance!!!***

On Wednesday April 1, 2026 (Tomorrow) McCook Public Power District will be doing repairs and maintenance to their substation located on the intersection of Highway 83 and Highway 23 near Maywood. While this is going on electric customers of Curtis Light & Water will be serviced by our generation units.

WE DO NOT ANTICIPATE ANY OUTAGE TIME but we wanted to make sure everyone knew why we are generating tomorrow and that if anyone experiences any issues to please reach out to the city office.

We anticipate that we will be generating electricity around 8am and have an estimated time for the substation be be back online within 12 hours (8pm).

We’re working to improve service at city park with more outlets spaced around the park including power at each picnic shelter and gazebo as well as moving the electrical work underground to have more air space freedom for balls, drones, and other activities.

Our partners at BSB Construction here in Curtis have been working at it to help bore in the new conduit for the park.

However, there is still more work to be done! We have placed plywood and cones over the holes to help prevent any accidents but if you have kids going to the park please remind them to avoid the holes next to the dirt patches please!
