The Georgia Jail Association extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and fellow officers of Warm Springs Police Officer Chris Fisher following his tragic death in the line of duty.

UPDATE - 9/2/2026: BLUE ALERT CANCELED

At about 11:39 a.m., the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office stopped a car in Anderson, SC. Steverson was a passenger in the car

When law enforcement made contact with the car, they discovered Steverson injured from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Steverson was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

A BLUE ALERT has been issued for Jimmie Steverson, age 23. Steverson is wanted for the death of Chris Fisher, a Warm Springs Police Department officer, that occurred on September 1, 2026, at 11:57 p.m. in Warm Springs, GA.

Steverson is a black male, 5’6”, 150 lbs, with black locs and brown eyes. He was last seen in Warm Springs, GA, on September 1, 2026, at 11:57 p.m. Steverson was wearing a black t-shirt and black gym shorts. He was traveling in a 2026 black Chevrolet Silverado.

Steverson is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him or see any suspicious activity, please take immediate precautions and notify 911.

🇺🇸 Georgia Jail Association Welcomes New President

The Georgia Jail Association is proud to announce that on Monday, August 3, 2026, Lt. Jessica Daves of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office was sworn in as President of the Georgia Jail Association.

Lt. Daves took the oath of office during the Welcome Dinner, marking the beginning of the Georgia Jail Association’s Annual Training Conference at Lake Lanier Islands Legacy Lodge.

We were honored to have Assistant Chief Deeann Cash of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, a past GJA President, administer the oath and officially welcome Lt. Daves into this important leadership role.

Please join us in congratulating President Jessica Daves as she begins her term of service and leadership with the Georgia Jail Association.
