A great memory popped up on Facebook today reminding me that it was six years ago since we opened the new Monastery Playground. 👏🏼

It was 2020 and we were in the midst of COVID but through it all, we were able to complete this community centered project and breathe new life into the space. We went from plywood to lots of fun!

Here’s to continuing to build free, accessible, and fun spaces together. 👏🏼

I would like to say a very Happy Father's Day to all the dads, step-dads, grandfathers, and mentors in Cumberland! Today we celebrate them for the impact they have on our lives, the values they help instill in us, and the legacies they leave behind. I know I’m grateful.

I hope you all get to spend some time with those you love today.

After more than 30 years of dedicated service, Library Director Celeste Dyer is calling it a career and what a career it has been! 👏

Celeste first walked through the doors of the Cumberland Public Library in 1993 as a part-time floating librarian. Over the decades, she rose through the ranks. She has guided our library through an era of enormous change, from the days of card catalogs to the world of eBooks and virtual programming.

As Celeste prepares Jacob to take over and the next generation of library staff to carry on the tradition of having the best library around (it's just true), we want to say thank you — for your innovation, your passion, and your 33 years of service to this community.

Enjoy a well-earned retirement! 🎉

On this hot and sunny day, I am proud to say congratulations to the Cumberland High School class of 2026! 🎉

I am also grateful to have gotten the chance to share a few words with this year’s graduating class. I tried to keep it short and sweet but here’s what I’ve got (for what it's worth):

There is a simple idea that has stuck with me the last few weeks since attending a Blackstone River Symposium a few weeks ago.

"A Space + Stories = A Place"

A school is more than a building. It becomes a place because of the people who fill it with friendships, challenges, achievements, lessons learned, and memories that last long after graduation day.

As these students leave 2600 Mendon Road and begins the next chapter of their lives, I hope they carry those stories with them. I hope they remember the opportunities they embraced, the people who inspired them, and the resilience they developed along the way.

And for those whose path here wasn't always easy, I hope those experiences become part of a story of growth, perseverance, and strength.

Most importantly, I hope every graduate remembers that their story matters. The future will bring new opportunities to learn, lead, create, and make a difference. Perhaps one day, they'll create spaces of their own that become places of belonging, inspiration, and opportunity for others.

Congratulations, Class of 2026. We are proud of you, and we can't wait to see where your stories take you next. May Cumberland always be a safe place to land.

Congratulations, class of 2026!

Two years ago was Ray Lane Day! It was genuinely one of my favorite days as Mayor.

Seeing this memory pop up is a good reminder that it’s never a bad time to celebrate the people who make us all better. It’s actually always a good time. 👏🏼

It's always a good day when we get to celebrate the Day of Portugal. It was a beautiful sunny morning to join the Town Staff, members of the 2026 Day of Portugal Committee, and members of Cumberland's vibrant Portuguese community for our annual flag-raising. As I said in my remarks, Cumberland is better for the rich cultural history of our Portuguese neighbors. Viva!
