A MESSAGE FROM OUR SUPERINTENDENT
As the 2025-2026 school year ends, I want to share some reflections with our entire Allegany County Public Schools community. I am overjoyed, invigorated and humbled to serve as your superintendent. Frankly, it has been one of the most meaningful years of my career to return to my home county and work alongside our students, teachers and staff.
We have had an amazing year together. I am so impressed with our over 8,000 public school students. They are smart, curious, kind, respectful and good kids. I am impressed with our dedicated teachers and staff. They are intelligent, caring, kind, committed and loyal to our students. I am impressed with our parents and community members. They have stepped up and supported our students in whatever needs we have presented. For that I am grateful.
When teachers, staff, parents, community members and elected officials collaborate on behalf of our young people, incredible things happen. We are truly one community, a community unified by our commitment to our youth.
As we end this school year, we are already preparing for the next academic school year. My colleagues and I are working hard to: (1) guarantee that we hire and retain the very best teachers and staff; (2) align our programs and curriculum to standards that provide meaningful learning experiences for all students; and (3) evaluate protocols that ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff.
I wish you a wonderful summer of rest and relaxation. Thank you for your support of our students and our school system. If you see me in the community, please stop and say hello.
With gratitude,
Dr. Michael J. Martirano
