911 dispatcher's job involves answering emergency and non-emergency calls, determining the nature of the call, prioritizing it, and dispatching appropriate police, fire, rescue, or other emergency resources. They act as a vital link between the public and emergency services. Successful candidates are expected to have excellent communication and organizational skills, the ability to remain calm under pressure, and a willingness to learn new technologies. Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays.
