District 45 deserves a Representative who is dedicated to legislation by and for the people. After watching countless hours of hearings in addition to most recent General Assembly sessions, it was noticed that my opponent did as she was seemingly told and voted either in the positive or negative, refused to pursue important issues (ex. 38 Studios) as some of her bills failed by staying in committe
e. I viewed highly controversial grants be converted into line items on the fiscal budget and approved despite concerns by Independents and Republicans; and all the time I questioned why Cumberland Hill, Manville, or Albion get nothing. Examples of which I speak include Mendon Road needing repair as well as the bridge over the Blackstone River at the bottom of Manville Hill Road. As a life long resident of Cumberland, I understand how the town has grown and changed. Yet, the people to whom I have spoken have common themes. They call my opponent to speak of pressing issues; their calls, e-mails, or messages are not returned. What brand of politics ignores the voter? I was raised to give back to my community and to make a positive impact on as many levels as possible. Unlike my opponent, I will not take money from lobbyists or special interest groups. I will self-fund my campaign, thus my vote will not be for sale. To clarify, I am not a current employee of Sturdy Hospital. I have a congenital heart defect for which I underwent open-heart surgery in July 2014. This operation was not totally successful and has led to complications and I am presently unable to work as a full time physician. I am disabled in that I cannot expend large amounts of energy needed to preform procedures on patients. Volunteering as Medical Director for the Manville Fire Department and Rhode Island Medical Reserve Corp are my contributions to clinical medicine at this time. Since meeting with the Valley Breeze and announcing my intentions to run for the District 45 seat I have met with numerous people and I am very grateful for the amazing outpouring of support which I have received. I have spent time meeting with people including those in leadership positions in Cumberland and Lincoln such as union leaders, town council members, General Assembly members, and business owners. I thank everyone for their interest and support and would greatly appreciate your vote in November so we can elect a dedicated leader who has honesty and integrity.
