Culpeper Housing & Shelter Services - CHASS Providing Answers to the Homeless and those at Risk in Culpeper, VA Case management is provided on a monthly basis to help clients stay in stable housing.

Culpeper Housing & Shelter Services(CHASS) is more than a shelter:
Every shelter resident is provided a case manager. Case management services include:
Budget Counseling
Housing Counseling
Job Search Services
Life Skills Training
Referrals to local, state and federal resources
Developing of an individualized housing service plan

CHASS offers Rapid Re-Housing

ces helps provide homeless families and individuals the financial assistance to move into permanent housing. This assistance can be for utility deposits, a security deposit and first month’s rent to help them secure housing. CHASS offers Prevention
Prevention funds are provided to families and individuals who are facing becoming homeless in 14 days or less and meet the requirements of the program. The program is designed to divert clients from homelessness and provide financial assistance for back rent to keep them stably housed. Case management is also provided on a monthly basis to help clients retain housing stability. CHASS provides below market rent as follows:
Ann Wingfield Common Apartments in Culpeper with 44 units to income eligible clients
Two 3 bedroom single family homes to families in need

CHASS helps provide Christmas to families in need every year. The Adopt-A-Family Program matches up families that would not have a Christmas without this program with families, individuals, or organizations that are willing and able to help make Christmas possible. Over the years CHASS has helped provide Christmas for 50 to 100 families a year.

Accepted Items (NEW, CLEAN AND UNOPENED ITEMS):
• Household - linens, blankets, towels,
• Clothing- socks, undergarments, shoes, coats (winter season) for women and children’s various sizes.
• Cleaning Supplies-liquid dish soap, paper towels, glass cook top cleaner, scrub free oven cleaner, glass cleaner, toilet bowel cleaner, all-purpose cleaner, tissue paper, hand sanitizer.
• Toys and Board Games
• Bottled water

Unaccepted Items:
• Furniture
• Books
• Household Appliances
• Houseware- dishes, silverware, cups, baking dishes, and small appliances
• Expired Food (baby food)
• Used car seats or strollers
• Bikes
• Medical supplies/ Medicine (over the counter or prescription)

With limited storage space, we are intentional about what we can accept. We prioritize new items to help build dignity for the families we serve. Thank you for understanding!
