The Cuero Fire Department is honored and grateful to have been selected among other departments in Texas to receive a $5,000 Helping Heroes donation from H-E-B.
We truly appreciate H-E-B recognizing and supporting the first responders who serve communities across Texas. This generous donation will be a great help to our department and our firefighters.
As we recognize the 25th anniversary of September 11th, it is especially meaningful to see organizations like H-E-B continuing to support those who answer the call to serve.

Dewitt Medical Foundation

We’re excited to welcome Kahlei Villarreal as one of the newest members of the DeWitt Medical Foundation Board!

A Cuero native, Kahlei is happy to be back home with her husband, Gabe, and their three-year-old daughter. After earning her degree in marketing from the University of Texas at San Antonio, Kahlei built a career in the events industry. She currently serves as a Senior Client Solutions Manager with Freeman, where she produces trade shows and conventions and works with associations across the country to plan and execute their conferences.

After spending time away, returning to Cuero has given Kahlei an even greater appreciation for the community she grew up in. She has always enjoyed being involved and finding ways to give back, and she is excited for the opportunity to serve in a way that supports the health and well-being of DeWitt County.

Kahlei looks forward to working alongside others who share her passion for making DeWitt County a wonderful place to live, work and raise a family.

Outside of work, Kahlei enjoys spending time with her family, staying involved in the community, playing golf and mahjong — and, these days, some of her favorite moments are simply watching her daughter grow up.

The EVthing

After 10 long months, our EVThing Tesla Fast Chargers are UP AND RUNNING! First charge? Tesla engineer charging his cybertruck yesterday late yesterday afternoon.

Within 12 to 36 hours, Cuero will be represented on Tesla’s app and all Tesla vehicles. The difference between The EVThing and other Tesla superchargers? Within 9 days we will have a credit card reader for those driving EV Vehicles NOT in the Tesla network.

We want to thank the City of Cuero electrical folks who helped us get the new transformer and did yeoman’s work on the install, Maggie Cromeen and the rest of the Chamber of Commerce for the encouragement and substantial help and each member of the City Council. Dewitt Medical Foundation

We’re excited to have another familiar face from our community joining the DeWitt Medical Foundation Board — welcome, Kassie Rath!

A lifelong Cuero resident, Kassie graduated from Texas State University with a degree in Healthcare Administration and spent 14 years working in the hospital setting before joining her family’s business and helping expand the Cuero Pecan House Café.

Kassie and her husband, James, have been married for 18 years and are proud parents to two children, Makenzi, a junior at Cuero High School, and Chandler, a freshman at CHS.

Kassie is proud to serve on the DeWitt Medical Foundation Board because she believes the Foundation plays an important role in supporting the medical services available in our community. She looks forward to giving back to the community she has always called home and is proud to raise her family here.

Outside of work, Kassie enjoys supporting her children in their activities and traveling with her family.

We’re excited to have Kassie join the Foundation Board and look forward to the experience, passion and community spirit she brings to the team. Welcome, Kassie!

Cuero Turkeyfest - Official Event Page

Join us this Wednesday, September 16th at 7 a.m. to send Ruby off as she flys north to Worthington, MN for the first heat of the Great Gobbler Gallop. Send off will start at Leske’s Oil Co. and will head towards the hospital. The Cuero Marching Band will be in attendance at the Old McDonald’s Parking lot to cheer on Ruby. So join us Wednesday morning, September 16th, to send Ruby off. Go Ruby Go!!!
