Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) volunteers are trained to speak up for the best interest of abused and neglected children in the courts. They are appointed by a judge to review records, research information and talk to everyone involved in a child’s case, making sure the child remains safe, until a permanent resolution is reached.

CASA lost a dear friend this week. Carol Waterman managed the Dollar General on the North Service Road in Sullivan. Carol would text or call us and set up school supply drives in the fall. She set out boxes every year for Christmas for the CASA kids. Thanks to her and her patrons, both fall and Christmas brought many nice things for the kids. When the workers found open packages of underwear and winter items, Carol collected these and would call for us to pick them up. She will be missed. Memorial service is November 1st at 2 pm at the Full Gospel Assembly in Sullivan.
