CSO Fields got a chance to meet a Crystal dad and his daughter last week and in visiting with them, he learned that the daughter didn't currently have a bike. Thanks to a generous donation of bikes from West Publishing, she's now sporting a brand new bike (and a stylish helmet to keep her safe) and they wanted to express their appreciation for this gift. 🚲

Becker Park Update – TOMORROW – Sunday, May 24th.

We have received information about another juvenile “park takeover event” being planned for tomorrow – Sunday, May 24th – at Becker Park. As we have previously shared - The Crystal Police Department will NOT tolerate these activities to occur at this family-oriented park and will be taking proactive steps to stop these types of gatherings at the park prior to them starting. Extra patrols will be in the area and large groups of juveniles arriving at the park by ride-share and unsupervised will be turned away prior to exiting their vehicles or sent from the park upon their arrival. In addition, officers will take enforcement action up to and including arrest for all illegal activities, and trespassing those exhibiting disorderly behavior in the park after they’ve been identified. In addition, we will take enforcement actions against parents or other adults who allow juvenile participation in these activities.

Our primary responsibility is to take whatever actions necessary to ensure the safety of all present. While it is certainly a last resort, all patrons should be aware that these situations may require officers to close the park, in it’s entirety, for some or all of the day.

As we have previously shared, we would appreciate the community sharing this message with parents of juveniles so there is a broad understanding of what’s happening at the park and their responsibility for knowing where their young person is and what they’re doing.

Since the city reimagined and reinvested in Becker Park five years ago, it has become a wonderful regional destination park for countless kids and families to enjoy. The city and the Police Department are very committed to taking the necessary steps to ensuring the park remains a welcoming and safe place for those kids and families. We appreciate the support and understanding of our community as we continue to focus on this goal.

MISSING PERSON UPDATE

On 05/14/26, we shared information about Jessica Omoke being reported as missing. On 05/15/26, we shared information that a deceased person had been located in Maple Grove and that our search for the missing person had ceased. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the name of the deceased individual, as well as the cause and manner of death.

The Crystal Police Department continues to investigate both of these incidents and consider this active and open. It is always of extreme importance that every investigation we conduct is thorough and accurate.

While the investigation is still active, we do not believe there is any foul play in this case, nor do we believe there is any danger to the public.

Further information will be released over time as the investigation is completed.

Last Friday, CPD partnered with Dunkin Donuts and the Special Olympics to fundraise for their athletes with the annual “Cop on a Rooftop” event. Very good turnout and a lot of positive conversations. Officers were also joined by CPD’s Joint Community Policing Partnership (JCPP) Liaison Brian Arradondo.
