Day of Service, Remembrance & Kindness!

🇺🇸Thank you to the Friends of NCVC - Nature Coast Volunteer Center for inviting our CEO, George Schmalstig, to speak at the National Day of Service & Remembrance of 9/11.

George shared a message that feels especially important today: be kind to one another, give each other grace, and remember the people we became on 9/12.

In the days following the tragedy of September 11, 2001, we came together. We helped our neighbors. We showed compassion. We put differences aside and reminded one another what it means to be a community.

May we honor those we lost not only by remembering September 11th, but by carrying the spirit of September 12th with us every day.

Be kind. Give grace. Show up for one another.

Recovery from Hurricanes Helene and Milton is still underway in Citrus County.

United Way of Citrus County leads the Citrus County Long-Term Recovery Group, bringing regional partners together to help survivors with needs that remain after insurance, FEMA and other assistance.

Today, our Unmet Needs Committee, made up of United Way of Citrus County, The Salvation Army, American Red Cross and Catholic Charities, reviewed three recovery cases and approved two, providing $13,350 for repairs to hurricane-damaged Citrus County homes.

Long-term recovery takes time, resources and strong partnerships. We’re proud to help lead that effort and bring funders together to help local families recover and rebuild.
