This week, the Crystal Lake Police Department was proud to host our inaugural Safety Town program for children preparing to enter kindergarten this fall!

Throughout the week, participants learned important safety lessons including stranger danger, water safety, animal safety, and when and how to call 911. We were fortunate to have several community partners help make these lessons come to life, including Dolphin Swim School, McHenry County Animal Control, and transportation staff from District 47.

Students also had the opportunity to tour the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department and SEECOM, giving them a behind-the-scenes look at the people and organizations that help keep our community safe every day.

Thank you to all of the parents and guardians who trusted us with your children this week. We enjoyed getting to know each of our Safety Town graduates and hope they left with valuable lessons, new friendships, and greater confidence as they prepare to start kindergarten. Congratulations, graduates!

Please join us in congratulating Sergeant Sindaravicius on graduating from the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command.

The School of Police Staff and Command is a nationally recognized, ten-week leadership and management program designed to prepare experienced law enforcement professionals for success in senior command roles. Through intensive coursework and professional development, participants gain the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the evolving challenges of law enforcement leadership.

We commend Sergeant Sindaravicius on this significant accomplishment and dedication to professional excellence. Congratulations on this well-earned achievement!

Join the Crystal Lake Police Department and the Salvation Army of McHenry County on July 17 for a fun-filled Touch-A-Truck event. Families will have the opportunity to explore a variety of emergency and specialty vehicles while supporting the Salvation Army's Stuff the Bus school supply drive.

The event is free to attend. School supply and monetary donations are greatly appreciated and will help local students start the school year prepared for success. We look forward to seeing you there!

Summer is here and school is out, which means more people are enjoying time outdoors. We've seen an increase in calls for service involving e-bikes and scooters throughout our community.

To help keep everyone safe, we'd like to remind residents that City ordinances regarding the operation of e-bikes and scooters are in place and apply to all riders. We encourage riders and parents to take a few moments to review the information below to ensure everyone understands the rules and expectations.

Join members of the Crystal Lake Police Department for an evening of community engagement, great food, and support for a great cause. A portion of the evening’s proceeds will benefit the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois.

As families and friends gather to honor Memorial Day, the Crystal Lake Police Department is reminding everyone to celebrate responsibly. Officers will be working to keep our roads safe throughout the holiday weekend.

Law enforcement will be conducting DUI enforcement day and night during Memorial Day.

If your plans include alcohol or cannabis, make a plan for a sober ride home before you go out. Help us keep our community safe this Memorial Day weekend.

Please see the information below about the upcoming Memorial Day Parade.

The City of Crystal Lake Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony will be held on Monday, May 25, 2026. The parade begins at 11:00 a.m. at Central High School and runs east on Franklin Avenue, north on Williams Street, and west on Woodstock Street to Union Cemetery, where a Memorial Service will be held.

The Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony is a solemn event intended to honor veterans and those who have given their lives for their country.
