This conversation is an opportunity to learn more about domestic violence, the resources available to those impacted, and the important role each of us can play in creating a safe and supportive community.

As you enjoy the Johnny Appleseed Festival, please be aware that police drones will be utilized to monitor the downtown area throughout the duration of the festival. This is one of the tools our officers use to help support a safe and enjoyable event for everyone.

Additionally, please plan ahead for traffic as Williams Street will be closed to motoring traffic from Woodstock Street to Crystal Lake Avenue during the festival.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to keep the community safe. We hope everyone has a fun at Johnny Appleseed!

Crystal Lake Central High School’s Homecoming Parade is happening today, September 25, at 3:30 p.m., kicking off from the high school parking lot!

If you’re out and about this afternoon, please be aware that parts of the parade route will be closed to motor vehicle traffic while the parade is underway. These closures help keep students, families, spectators, and everyone participating in the parade safe.

We’ve attached a map of the parade route so you can plan ahead and avoid any unexpected delays. 🚗

Be advised that our drone will be used for the duration of Central High School's Homecoming parade starting at 3:30pm. The purpose of the drone is real-time monitoring of the event to ensure participant and spectator safety.

The Crystal Lake Police Department would like to congratulate Jake Caudill and Officer Holub who were recognized Saturday at the 2026 MADD Law Enforcement Recognition Ceremony in Springfield.

Officer Holub was presented with MADD’s Hero Award for his unwavering dedication to keeping impaired drivers off the roadway. Jake Caudill was also honored with MADD’s Hero Award for his dedication to successfully prosecuting DUI cases and holding impaired drivers accountable. Their commitment to keeping our community safe is truly deserving of this recognition.

Congratulations to both Officer Holub and Jake Caudill on this well-deserved honor!

On September 11, 2001, our nation experienced an unimaginable tragedy that forever changed countless lives.

We remember the 2,977 people who lost their lives. We support the families, friends, and communities who continue to carry their memory.

We honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders who ran toward danger to help others, as well as the countless individuals who came together in the days that followed with compassion, strength, and resilience.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to honor those who were lost, remember those who served, and reflect on the courage and unity that emerged during a time of profound loss.

Today, the Crystal Lake Police Department had the opportunity to recognize a community member for her actions that made a meaningful difference in an arson investigation.

By her reporting the incident when she observed it, Officers were able to immediately respond to prevent further danger to the community.

As Labor Day weekend approaches, we’re reminding everyone that one decision can have life-changing consequences.

Officer Holub highlights the dangers and consequences of impaired driving and the importance of making a plan before you celebrate. The Crystal Lake Police Department is proud to participate in IDOT’s “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign, joining law enforcement agencies across Illinois in working to keep our roads safe this holiday weekend.

If you plan to drink, plan for a safe ride home.
