June is here, and it’s time to celebrate Pride Month! 🎉

Pride is a beautiful reminder of the power of acceptance, love, and community. It’s about creating a world where every single person feels safe, valued, and free to be exactly who they are.

True community means opening our hearts to everyone—embracing people no matter what they believe, where they come from, or how they look. Our differences don't divide us; they make our world a more vibrant, beautiful place to live.

Let's use this month (and every month!) to listen, learn, and lead with kindness. Treat everyone with the respect and dignity they deserve.

🌟 Community Spotlight: Life-Changing Care in McHenry County 🌟

We are incredibly proud to spotlight the vital work of Greater Family Health!

Greater Family Health offers a comfortable, welcoming, inclusive, and personal approach to health care for everyone in our community. Their dedicated doctors and staff take the time to truly understand your physical, emotional, and financial needs—regardless of your ability to pay.

Through the support and funding of the McHenry County Mental Health Board, Greater Family Health is able to provide these essential, life-changing programs:

🏥 Behavioral Health Integration (BHI): Improving health outcomes through a team-based approach. By fully integrating primary medical care and behavioral health services—including shared scheduling, treatment planning, and records—patients with complex needs receive seamless, coordinated care.

🌱 Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT): Offering adults (18+) struggling with opioid dependence a compassionate path to recovery by combining medical treatment with individualized therapy.

🧠 Psychiatry Services: A dedicated team of three professionals (one Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and two General Adult Psychiatrists) provides patients of all ages with psychiatric evaluations, medication education, and ongoing monitoring.

Sometimes people remember the advice.

Sometimes they remember the medication.

And sometimes they remember that someone took the time to truly understand what they were carrying. 💜

When this patient arrived at Ascension Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital, they were navigating profound loss, grief, and life changes they had never experienced before.

Barbara did more than help with medications. She listened. She wanted to understand what brought them here and what they were working through.

In a moment when someone felt overwhelmed by loss, Barbara offered compassion, perspective, and support that stayed with them long after the conversation ended.

Today, that patient shared they are crying less, laughing more, and continuing their healing journey. 💗

Congratulations to Barbara on receiving a The DAISY Award for the difference she makes in the lives of patients every day. 🌼🤍

For a long time, the unwritten rule for men has been to "tough it out" and carry stress silently. But hiding the struggle doesn't make it go away—it just makes the burden heavier.

True strength isn’t about masking your pain; it’s about having the courage to face it.

📊 The Reality:

You are not alone: Nearly 1 in 5 adults live with a mental illness, yet men are statistically much less likely to seek mental health services than women (National Institute of Mental Health).
The stakes are high: Men account for approximately 80% of all su***de deaths, making open conversation a literal lifesaver (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).

Reaching out works: The American Psychological Association emphasizes that seeking support is a healthy, definitive step toward taking control of your life.

Let’s break the stigma. Check on your friends, listen without judgment, and normalize the conversation. Your mental health matters.

💡 If you or someone you know is going through a tough time and needs immediate support, please call 988 for immediate help or download the MCHELP app which can connect you to local support services.
