Update: leak has been repaired and everyone should have their pressure and water running normally.
City of Crystal City Water System Update
The city crew spent all night on Lake Street searching for the source of the water leak but, unfortunately, was unable to locate it. The crew has gone home to get some much-needed rest, while our Public Works Director has remained on site and continues the search.
We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding during this situation. We also apologize for the late notice yesterday. At the time, we did not anticipate that the leak would cause low to no water pressure in homes and businesses. After reviewing reports, social media posts, and notifications from residents, we determined that the volume of water being lost from the leak could be affecting system pressure. Once we identified that possibility, we immediately issued a public service announcement.
To clarify, the water system has not been shut off and water service remains on. However, some customers may continue to experience low pressure until the leak is found and repaired.
At this time, we do not know how long repairs will take because we have not yet located the source of the leak. We will continue working diligently to identify the problem and restore full water pressure as quickly as possible.
Thank you for your patience, support, and understanding as our team works to resolve this issue.
We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to our water crew, who worked tirelessly throughout the night in an effort to locate the leak and restore normal service. Their dedication, hard work, and commitment to serving our community do not go unnoticed. Thank you for your long hours, perseverance, and continued efforts during this challenging situation.
