BATTLE OF THE ROSEBUD COMMEMORATION THIS
WEDNESDAY
This Wednesday the 17th marks 150 years since the battle of the Rosebud and there will be
commemorative activities going on at the site which is not far from Busby.
It was fought 8 days before the better known battle of the Little Bighorn and was a fight between
the US Army against the Sioux and Cheyenne. In alliance with the Army were 176 Crows along
with a group of Shoshones.
This was an important event in Crow history. Had the Crows not been there, it is possible that
General Crook& #39;s forces could have been wiped out as was Custer& #39;s immediate force 8 days later.
Crook would later that year go on to other battles that would ultimately drive the Sioux and
Cheyenne from Crow Country.
There is a commemorative event going on that day at the Rosebud Battlefield State Park. It
begins at 9 and concludes with a feast at 3. Representatives of all the tribes that fought there will
be part of the program.

TOMORROW'S PROGRAM -- INDIAN LAW 101 PART 2 CANCELED

We were just informed that the presenters have unavoidable work conflicts and cannot present tomorrow. There will be no other program in its place so last week's symposium was the last class of the semester. We will resume the Cultural Enrichment class/presentations in September.
