Croton On Hudson Emergency Medical Services Croton-on-Hudson Emergency Medical Services provides ambulance service to the Village of Croton

Croton-on-Hudson Emergency Medical Services is a volunteer organization, assisted by Paid Staffing. That means that although there is always one paid EMT/Driver on duty 24/7, they require a volunteer EMT or Driver to complete a crew. Much of the time, the Paid staff does not need to crew the ambulance, due to the presence to of a volunteer EMT and Driver.

Today Croton EMS was able to join the rest of our community and participate in the Summerfest Parade. Volunteers marched with the Local 21 Pipes and Drums leading us down the street! During the event Croton EMS handled 1 call for service prior to the parade and another during the event which was an RMA. Overall a successful day!

I spy Captain Gilleo and 2nd Lt Gilleo in this photo! 2nd Lieutenant Gilleo currently serves as an operations Lt for County EMS and is in charge of the METU. Captain Gilleo serves as an EMT with County EMS.

County EMS? What’s that?

It’s a question we get all the time from residents who see County EMS personnel staged at Playland and other County parks, at the Westchester County during concerts and events, or at other public gatherings on County properties.

County EMS is a BLS-FR (Basic Life Support-First Response) agency with approximately 50 Emergency Medical Technicians on our roster. Most are per diem members who work in conjunction with our four-full time staff in the EMS Division. Deputy Chief Brett Roberts of the EMS Division oversees its operations.

County EMS is a non-transport EMS agency that provides emergency response and EMS standby. We are grateful for their contributions to DES and our County, and we salute them during EMS Week for the dedicated and skillful service they provide to keep people safe.

In addition, as EMS Week winds down, we’d also like to recognize and thank the EMS Zone Coordinators associated with our Department.

EMS Zone Coordinators are designated representatives of the Department of Emergency Services. One function of the EMS Zone Coordinator is to assist local EMS agencies at the scene of large-scale or multiple casualty incidents. The coordinators work at the direction of the Incident Commander at a mutual aid or multi-jurisdictional event.

Our EMS Zone Coordinators are:
EMS-10 (David Raizen)
EMS-11 (Guy Singer)
EMS-12 (Nick Franzoso)

Our thanks to these terrific coordinators for all they do for our Department and EMS agencies across Westchester County.

After a brief hiatus and in honor of National EMS week, we're back to spotlight some of our amazing members who work tirelessly to keep our town safe!

Up first this week we have our 1st Lieutenant, John Delaney. Originally from Buchanan, John has dedicated over 10 years to Croton EMS, where he has served in numerous committee chair roles and previously as 2nd Lieutenant before stepping into his current position. He is also an active member of Croton Fire Department and Verplanck EMS and a former member of Buchanan Engine Co. Outside of EMS, John works as a warehouse manager and serves as a board member at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society. In his free time, he enjoys playing darts and pool, and watching football and baseball. John is especially proud of his daughter Samantha, who is proudly following in his emergency services footsteps!
