Wednesday, March 22, the Danish Home and Croton Harmon High School cool-aborated mutual benefit. The Home hosted a 20-member jazz collective from Copenhagen , and the high school has music programs who welcomed the collective for an hour's performance in the school's auditorium. CHHS vice principal Mark Maxam and music teacher Jazz Zantay made the large and loud band right at home. We then removed to the Home, where we served a traditional Danish luncheon, topped off with very un-Danish pumpkin pie, and the group played for our residents in the living room. You can imagine what three rows of brass, piano, bass, electric guitar and singers sounded like- it was fabulous!

The board of the Danish Home in Croton on Hudson, NY and the Museum of Danish America, Elk Horn, IA, together invite clubs, organizations and businesses in the greater NY Danish-American community to join us Thursday, October 13, from 10AM to 2PM at the Danish Home for a free workshop: “How to get the most out of today’s social media.”
Receive real-life social media training and advice specific to the goals of Danish and Danish-American organizations. Learn how to make an impact online with limited resources and connect with your members and potential members while avoiding pitfalls and wasted time. Workshop includes a real-life collaboration opportunity!
The Home’s board has engaged with the Museum of Danish America to have their media expert, Nicky Christensen, come out to troubleshoot, educate, and guide a reworking of our process and end product.
And we’d like to invite you, as our guest, to benefit from Nicky and the Museum’s expertise! If you think you should have a page and don’t, or a webpage and can’t, or want to push what you do have into the next generation, come join us. You won’t be disappointed or hungry.
The workshop is free and includes lunch. We invite Danish clubs, organizations, and businesses, and if we have 20 guests we’re about right-sized. Please email back to Erik Andersen at [email protected], and we’ll save you a seat (or two).
