The wooden structure itself is 97-feet-tall on the high-side and 100-feet-tall on the low-side and is supported by six other strong trees that act like natural pillars. Burgess says he started working on this giant treehouse after he had a vision back in 1993. The Lord spoke to him and said: “If you build me a treehouse, I’ll see you never run out of material.” And so he spent the next 11 years
building the Lord's treehouse, using only salvaged materials, like pieces of lumber from garages, storage sheds, barns and homes. It has been 7 barns & houses. So, as far as Horace is concerned, the Lord did provide him with all the materials he needed. Although he never bothered to measure Lord’s House (he estimates it must be about 10,000 square feet). There are 258,000 nails in this structure and 530 lbs were hammered by hand. It is over 15,000 square ft. It cost the 60-year-old landscape architect around $12,000 to construct the world’s biggest treehouse. There are 98 winding steps to get to the tower at the top. In the middle of this structure you will find one of the most unique Chapels. There are 26 steps from the front doorway of the structure to get to the Chapel.
