Fire danger in Crow Wing County is high today. South winds, heat and dry conditions are continuing factors.

Permits are required for burning. If you have a fire, please make sure you have an active permit, always watch your fire and make sure it is thoroughly extinguished, including coals before leaving.

This Saturday, our community has the opportunity to rally around Michelle Bailey, wife of Nisswa Fire Chief Shawn Bailey, as she courageously battles Grade 4 Glioblastoma.

Lakes Area Heroes is honored to help support this event alongside an incredible group of local businesses, volunteers, and community members. It's a true reflection of what happens when people come together with one common goal: supporting a family that needs us.

Air quality alert issued due to wildfire smoke through Friday, July 17, for east central, central, southeast, south central, west central, north central, and northeast Minnesota, including the Brainerd Lakes area.

Air quality is hazardous and outdoor activities should be avoided. Check in on elderly friends and neighbors with health concerns with this period of extreme heat and hazardous air quality.
