🚁 Great Teamwork in Action 🚁

This morning, Dixie County Fire Rescue had the opportunity to work alongside the outstanding crew of AirLife 68 during an early morning call.

Incidents like these remind us how important teamwork is in emergency services. From the initial response on scene to patient care and transport, every agency involved worked together with one common goal: providing the best possible care for our patient.

We would like to recognize and thank the crew of AirLife 68 for their professionalism, expertise, and seamless coordination throughout the call. Their dedication to serving our community and the surrounding region is greatly appreciated.

🔥 Burn Ban Lifted 🔥

The burn ban for Dixie County has been lifted as of May 29, 2026, at 8:00 AM.

Residents may resume outdoor burning while following all local and state guidelines. Please use caution, never leave fires unattended, and keep a water source nearby.

Dixie County Fire Rescue had a blast helping with Water Day at Old Town Elementary! Between the water guns, fire hoses, and lots of laughter, it was a fun filled day for everyone involved. 🚒🔫💧

Ms. Cynthia, a local Red Cross volunteer, is known for making her rounds through the Tri-County area delivering her famous homemade cookies to fire stations. 🍪❤️

As pictured, she made sure to stop by Station 1 to spread a little love and appreciation to our crew. Thank you, Ms. Cynthia, for always supporting our firefighters!"

Saturday, DCFR celebrated National EMS Week with an awesome Family Day full of food, laughter, water fun, and great memories! 🚑☀️💦

From the water slides to all the fun activities throughout the day, it was amazing seeing our DCFR family come together and enjoy time with one another outside of emergency calls and busy shifts. The kids had an absolute blast, and the smiles all around made the day truly special.

A huge thank you goes out to our EMS Club, whose dues helped make the water slides, water activities, and food possible for everyone to enjoy.

At Dixie County Fire Rescue, we are more than coworkers we are family. We are thankful for every EMT, Paramedic, firefighter, spouse, child, and supporter who helps make this department so special. Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make our National EMS Week Family Day a huge success! ❤️🔥🚒

🚨INFO FROM DIXIE DISTRICT SCHOOLS🚨

Dixie District Schools met this afternoon with the Dixie County Emergency Operations Center, NOAA, and other partner agencies.

Out of an abundance of caution, Dixie District Schools will be closed on Friday, May 8, 2026, due to the high possibility of smoke and fog from the South Canal Fire in Lafayette County.

The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. Please continue to monitor district communications for updates.

🚒CCFD & DCFR Technical Rope Rescue🐶

Dixie County Fire Rescue units responded yesterday to a unique call involving a dog trapped in a dried up spring/sinkhole. DCFR crews assisted Cross City Fire Department on the their first-ever technical rope rescue operation.

Upon arrival, crews located the dog approximately 40 feet down in a cavern system within the cavern. Recognizing the complexity of the situation, responders carefully assessed the environment and developed a safe and effective rescue plan. Utilizing specialized rope equipment provided by Cross City Fire Department, personnel were able to access the space and safely retrieve the animal.

Thanks to the coordinated efforts and technical precision of all crews on scene, the dog was successfully rescued without injury.

Outstanding work by everyone involved, and a special thank you to Cross City Fire Department for their use and deployment of rope rescue equipment during this operation.
