Anderson for House 2020

Anderson for House 2020 Seeking your support and vote on November 8, 2016 I have enjoyed serving as an elected official in a variety of capacities over the last 40 years.

It was good to have my running mate, Don Longmuir, with me during the special session to see the Legislature in action. Also appreciated Justin LaBar's being able to take part. It's always good to see District 2 voters taking an active interest in what goes on in state politics!

A three day special session in Bismarck this past week resulted in passing a bill to address the state's revenue shortfall. The following post by Senator David Rust gives a clear explanation of what happened:

"The results of the special session included doing the following: 1) balancing the budget through a 2.5% allotment, 2) transferring dollars from the Bank of ND and rainy day funds, and 3) restoring the 2.5% dollars to Human Services and partially to Corrections. For the record, Human Services' "cut" was a "cut in the increase." They still will get an increase of somewhere around 9% over the previous biennium. And, since the 4.05% allotment previously done by the Governor won't go into effect until Jan. 1, we can address that when we meet in December or in January when it can be properly vetted. As everyone knows, it's always easy to spend as all of the requests are worthy and needed. Making ends meet, however, is not so easy as it forces you to make difficult decisions."
