🚨 CROOKSVILLE FLOOD RELIEF FUND REMINDER 🚨

This is a reminder for anyone who has submitted an incomplete application for the Crooksville Flood Relief Fund:

All missing documents must be submitted by tomorrow, SEPTEMBER 15.

Your application must be complete and include all required documentation to be considered for funding. Incomplete applications will not be eligible for consideration.

Please make sure everything is submitted by the deadline!

‼️Here we go again, we are under a Flood Watch until tomorrow 9/13/26‼️

⚪️ It appears that early afternoon we are going to have a large weather system come through the area with heavy rain and wind. Some reports are saying up to 2in of rain is possible from the weather system that will move into the area.

🔵 With this rain coming in, if you are in a floodplain or area that has recently encountered flooding PLEASE move your cars and valuables to high ground.

🔴 We ask that you do not wait till the flood waters rise to leave the areas. We will have Fire and EMS crews on standby in the event the flooding starts and people need help.

Due to additional rainfall overnight and the possibility of continued rain, water levels may continue to rise.

If you live in an area that has already experienced flooding, please take precautions now:

Move vehicles to higher ground.
Move belongings and valuables to a higher level.
Avoid flooded roads and standing water.
Continue monitoring conditions and be prepared to leave if necessary.

We are uncertain how much additional rain we may receive or how high the water could rise. Please do not wait until conditions worsen—take steps now to protect yourself, your family, and your property.

A COMMUNITY OF GRATITUDE — HELPING HANDS

Today, we want to thank every person who showed up to help our residents begin the long and painful process of cleaning out their homes and removing items damaged by the flood.

Cleaning up after a disaster is about so much more than carrying damaged furniture and belongings to the curb. Many of those items held years of memories. This work has been physically exhausting and emotionally difficult, but our residents did not have to face it alone.

Volunteers entered damaged homes, moved heavy items, pulled out flooring and drywall, shoveled mud and helped families take the first steps toward rebuilding. Others cleaned roadways, cleared yards, removed debris and worked wherever an extra set of hands was needed.

We would especially like to thank:

Team Rubicon
Samaritan’s Purse
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Tri-County Career Center

These organizations brought volunteers, equipment, experience and, most importantly, hope to people who were facing an overwhelming situation.

We also want to recognize every other team, church, school, organization and individual who helped with the cleanup efforts. Some traveled from outside our community, while others simply walked across the street to help a neighbor. Many worked quietly, never asking for recognition or expecting anything in return.

The road to recovery will be long, but because of you, our residents did not have to take those first difficult steps by themselves.

To everyone who picked up a shovel, carried a box, cleared a yard, removed debris or stood beside a family during one of the hardest moments of their lives: thank you.

Your helping hands brought strength and hope back into our community.

A COMMUNITY OF GRATITUDE — FEEDING OUR COMMUNITY

Today, we want to thank every food vendor, restaurant, organization, and individual who helped make sure our residents, volunteers, and first responders had something warm to eat following the flood.

A very special thank-you goes to Hope for Crisis, who has been here since the very beginning and continues to serve our community. They have prepared and served around 30,000 meals, giving their time, energy and hearts to Crooksville day after day. Their commitment has been incredible, and we cannot give them enough credit for everything they have done.

We are also grateful to everyone who prepared food at home, purchased meals, dropped food off for those working, or made sure a family in need had something to eat.

A warm meal may seem like a simple thing, but during a crisis it can mean so much more. It gives someone a chance to sit down, take a breath and feel cared for. Because of your generosity, so many people did not have to worry about where their next meal would come from while they were trying to clean up, recover and put their lives back together.

There have been so many people feeding our community that it is nearly impossible to name everyone. If we have missed anyone, please know it was not intentional. Every meal, every donation and every act of kindness has mattered.

To everyone who helped feed Crooksville: thank you for showing up, serving others and taking care of our community when it needed you most.

MOSQUITO SPRAYING UPDATE

We understand that mosquitoes are especially bad right now. Unfortunately, the Village’s mosquito sprayer was lost during the recent flooding, which is why spraying has not taken place.

We are currently looking into other options and will provide an update as soon as we have more information. We appreciate your patience and want to keep everyone informed.

A COMMUNITY OF GRATITUDE — OUR RESIDENTS

Today’s thank-you is for the heart of Crooksville—our residents.

Many of you lost more than most people can imagine. Homes were lost, vehicles were destroyed, and years of belongings and memories were gone in a matter of hours. Some of you are still trying to figure out where to live, how to rebuild and what comes next.

Yet, in the middle of your own heartbreak, you still showed up for someone else.

You checked on your neighbors. You shared food, water and supplies. You opened your homes, made donations, helped clean up, hauled away debris and offered rides. You gave your time when you were already exhausted. You listened to one another, cried together and became support systems for people who simply needed someone beside them.

What stands out to me most is how much of this happened quietly. It wasn’t done for Facebook likes, posts, attention, to gain followers or clout. There were no cameras and no expectation of recognition. People helped because they genuinely cared about their neighbors and their community. It was simply people helping people because that is what neighbors do.

I know this has been frustrating, exhausting and heartbreaking. I know there are residents who still don’t have answers and families who have a long road ahead of them. Recovery does not happen overnight, and the true weight of what our community has been through is still settling in.

But through all of it, you have shown an unbelievable amount of strength, patience, and compassion—not only for your own families, but for one another.

The flood damaged homes, roads, vehicles and so much more, but it did not take away the heart of this community. If anything, it showed everyone just how strong that heart really is.

To every Crooksville resident who helped a neighbor, shared what they had, asked for help when they needed it or simply kept going through another difficult day: thank you.

You are the reason Crooksville will recover. You are what makes this more than a place on a map.

You are what makes Crooksville home.

Today, I want to thank every first responder who answered the call.

When Crooksville was facing an unimaginable crisis, you ran toward the danger. You entered hazardous and unpredictable situations, putting your own safety at risk to rescue and protect countless members of our community. Your courage, selflessness, and dedication will never be forgotten.
A special thank-you goes to Chief Dyrall Newlon and Assistant Chief Baker for everything they did throughout this emergency. Their calm leadership, quick decision-making, and commitment to protecting our residents helped guide us through some of the most frightening and uncertain moments our community has ever faced.
The overwhelming response from fire departments, emergency personnel, law enforcement agencies, and other first responders was truly unbelievable. You came without hesitation, worked alongside our local crews, and showed Crooksville that we were not facing this disaster alone.
There are no words that can fully express our gratitude for the lives you protected, the sacrifices you made, and the hope you brought during such a devastating time.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to every first responder who showed up for Crooksville when we needed you most.
