The Crockett Police Department has made another arrest involving a registered s*x offender who failed to comply with registration requirements.

Earlier this week, an officer conducted a s*x offender compliance check on James Michael Myers, 45, of Crockett, and discovered an unreported social media account that Myers was actively using. Under Texas law, registered s*x offenders are required to report all social media accounts to their s*x offender registration authority, which is local law enforcement.

Myers is required to register as a s*x offender following a conviction for possession of child exploitation material.

Based on the unreported social media account, a warrant was issued charging Myers with Failure to Comply with S*x Offender Duty to Register. Myers was arrested on June 4, 2026, and booked into the Houston County Jail.

The Crockett Police Department remains committed to conducting regular compliance checks on registered s*x offenders and holding offenders accountable when violations are discovered. Compliance checks are an important tool in ensuring offenders are following registration requirements designed to help protect our community.

Myers is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

Brandon Deshun McCullough, 36, of Crockett, was arrested by the Crockett Police Department for failing to comply with s*x offender registration requirements after officers discovered several unreported social media accounts. Current law does not prohibit registered s*x offenders from having social media accounts; however, they are required to report all accounts to their s*x offender registration authority, which is local law enforcement.

McCullough is required to register as a s*x offender following a 2019 conviction for child s*x crimes, during which he used Snapchat to communicate with and lure the victim.

On May 22, 2026, a patrol officer conducted a s*x offender compliance check on McCullough and located Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat accounts that appeared to belong to him but had not been reported as required.

Based on the unreported social media accounts, a warrant was issued for McCullough’s arrest for Failure to Comply with S*x Offender Duty to Register Lifetime/Annual, a third-degree felony. McCullough was arrested on May 28, 2026, and booked into the Houston County Jail.

McCullough is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. Their sacrifice secured the freedoms we enjoy each day, and their courage will never be forgotten. Today, we remember the fallen, honor their legacy, and keep their families in our thoughts.

We are thankful this incident ended without injuries to the child, the public, or the officers involved. Situations like this highlight some of the dangers our officers face on a daily basis while working to protect our community. We appreciate the continued partnership and coordination with our federal law enforcement partners in holding dangerous offenders accountable.

Strong working relationships between law enforcement agencies always benefit the safety of the community. What began as a traffic stop by one of our patrol officers for a simple traffic violation turned into a drug investigation, which led officers to dig deeper into the suspect, Danny Albert Harris, 64, a registered s*x offender previously convicted of s*x crimes involving a child. Information developed during the investigation was shared with the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, which resulted in Harris being charged with Failure to Comply with Registration Requirements (F3) for allegedly failing to report social media accounts as required by law. Drug charges are also pending.

Harris is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
