Crockett Community Services District (CCSD) Director Kris Vickers resigned from the District Board on September 23, 2015.
In accordance with Government Code Section 1780, the District will formally accept the resignation at the next Board meeting on October 28.
The Board will announce the vacancy on October 28 and will consider filling the vacancy either by appointment or by calling for an election. Historically, after a resignation, the District has chosen to advertise for applicants and conducted interviews to appoint the replacement Director until the next general district election which is November 2016. Anyone interested in the soon-to-be open Board seat is encouraged to attend the October 28 Board meeting, visit our website at www.town.crockett.ca.us, and review the District Board minutes to get a sense of the responsibilities of a director.
The District provides certain municipal services for the unincorporated towns of Crockett and Port Costa, California; Crockett sanitary sewer services, Port Costa sanitary sewer services, Recreation services, and limited Maintenance services. The CCSD is an independent special district, and although is not a function of the state, the state provides critical oversight to special district operations. Special districts must submit annual financial reports to the State Controller and must also follow state laws pertaining to public meetings, bonded debt, record keeping and elections. The Board of Directors establishes the polices for the operation of the District and provides for the implementation of those policies.
