We had a great day at the city park stocking the pond with 700 bluegill and sunfish, along with 300 catfish to help boost our fish population!

Even better, some nearby local students, showing their ag projects at the Houston Co. Fair, got to jump in and help release the fish. It was a great moment to see them involved and enjoying the experience.

These additions will help create more fishing opportunities for our residents, not just this season, but for years to come. Grab a pole and enjoy! 🎣

☀️ Great Weather = Productive Street Crew! 🚧

Our City Street Department has been taking full advantage of the beautiful weather, over the past week and continuing this week, to make important improvements across our neighborhoods.

Seal coating is being done on: Hall St, Rhodes St, Painter St, LaBelle St, Rose St, and portions of Cottonwood.

In addition, Sowescor Street has received its second seal coat following its recent full reconstruction, helping protect the new surface and extend the life of the roadway.

Seal coating is a cost-effective way to preserve our streets, protect against weather damage, and stretch taxpayer dollars further. A big thank-you to our street crew for their hard work and for keeping Crockett moving forward!

Here is an article about the emergency sirens recently installed throughout the city. This $538,000 project was fully funded by grants - FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program and Communities Unlimited/TLL Temple Inland Foundation. What a great success story!

Rural East Texas emergency preparedness funding helped the City of Crockett install six outdoor warning sirens, strengthening safety after a devastating tornado.

💧🚨 Water Leak & Service Advisory 🚨💧

As temperatures rise today, please watch closely for water leaks around your home and in your neighborhood. The City is receiving a few calls from residents reporting no water at their homes or businesses. Please be advised that there is no loss of water supply and no system-wide issues. These situations are most likely caused by frozen supply lines, meters, or by a pipe that broke during the freeze.

Please look for water appearing: Around a home’s foundation, under the eaves, or underneath a pier-and-beam home.

If you notice a leak or loss of water, immediately turn the water off at the meter to prevent further damage.

If you need assistance turning off the water, call the City of Crockett Public Works Department at 936-544-8391. A city employee will come out and shut the water off so you can contact a plumber.

Thank you for helping protect your home and conserve water.

01/25/2026

Due to weather and road conditions expected to worsen tomorrow, City of Crockett offices will be closed on Monday. A delayed opening on Tuesday is possible, depending on improvement in road conditions.

At this time, police, fire, and public works crews are actively responding to calls for service and emergencies and are monitoring road conditions. Residents are strongly discouraged from unnecessary travel.

Important service updates:

• Water Disconnections due to Non-payment:
Water disconnects scheduled for Monday are postponed until Wednesday. Please make payment online now or in-person on Tuesday.

• Garbage Collection:
Monday’s garbage route is anticipated to be delayed by one day. All garbage routes this week are expected to run at least one day later than normal.

• Water Leaks:
If you observe a water leak, please report it immediately so water can be turned off at the meter to prevent damage and water loss. Public Works phone: 936-544-8391

• Warming Center:
Thankfully, we have not had lengthy or widespread power outages in town, so the Civic Center has not been opened as a warming center but will be available if needed. We will notify everyone by social media and emergency messaging if it is opened. Please sign up to receive emergency notifications at: https://protect.genasys.com/download
