Friends of Governor Thompson State Park The Friends of Governor Thompson State Park was formed in August of 2004, by a group of individuals who are interested in the development of the new park.

Remember, State Park hunting starts today! WI State parks are open from November 15 to December 15, for gun hunting and from November 15 to January 4 for bow hunting. The park is open to all types of recreation during this time. If you are not comfortable, hiking, where we have hunters, Governor Thompson State Park offers trails that are inside the wildlife refuge. The Woods Lake picnic area and the Otter trail, as well as the campground area are non-hunting zones, open to hikers and dog walkers during the fall.  Enjoy the nice weather everyone!

This Saturday the Governor Thompson State Park is celebrating its 25th year in the 125th year of WI state parks! 🎉

Join us at 10am for the Annual Friends meeting at the Woods Lake Shelter.

Admission is free on Saturday and the weather looks excellent to check out the fall colors at the park. 🍁
