Day 2 of our CPR, First Aid, and Stop the Bleed training with the team at Chamonix Hotel & Casino!

We’re building on yesterday’s momentum with more hands-on training, real-world scenarios, and practical skills that can make a life-saving difference. It’s been great seeing the engagement and commitment from everyone involved—this is exactly how strong, prepared communities are built.

We still have seats available for our upcoming CPR/First Aid/Stop the Bleed class on April 18th, and we’d love to fill every spot. Whether you’re part of a business, organization, or just want to be better prepared for your family and community, this training is for you.

Today kicks off a full week of CPR, First Aid, and Stop the Bleed training with our community partners at Chamonix Hotel & Casino, and we’re excited to get started!
South West Teller County EMS is proud to spend this week working alongside the Chamonix team, helping provide the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to respond confidently in an emergency. From CPR and basic first aid to bleeding control, these trainings are all about empowering people to step in and make a difference when it matters most.
Strong partnerships like this help build a safer, more prepared community—not just for employees and guests, but for everyone in Teller County.
We’re looking forward to a great week of training and collaboration!

⚠️ PUBLIC HEALTH ANNOUNCEMENT – TELLER COUNTY ⚠️
The Southern Teller County Health Services District and SWTCEMS want to remind residents and visitors about the risks of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning, especially during cold weather.
⚠️ CO Safety Reminders:
• Never run vehicles, generators, or grills inside homes, garages, or near open windows
• Ensure vents and flues are clear of snow and debris
• Use space heaters only as directed and keep them away from flammable items
• Make sure carbon monoxide detectors are installed and working on every level of your home
🚑 Symptoms of CO exposure may include headache, dizziness, nausea, confusion, or shortness of breath.
If you suspect carbon monoxide exposure, get outside immediately and call 911.
A few simple precautions can save lives. Thank you for helping keep Teller County safe this winter. 🏔️

The Southern Teller County Health Services District and SWTCEMS want to remind residents and visitors to stay alert due to recent mountain lion activity.

• Keep children and pets close
• Avoid walking alone at dawn or dusk
• Do not approach wildlife
• Secure attractants around your home

If you encounter a mountain lion: do not run, maintain eye contact, make yourself look larger, and back away slowly.

🚑 Call 911 for immediate danger.
📞 Report non-emergency sightings to Colorado Parks and Wildlife (303-297-1192).
