The City has missed out on millions of dollars in revenue. Revenue from ma*****na sales would help diversity the city's funding sources so it is not as reliant on one industry. Issue 2B establishes the taxes on the sales of medical and recreational ma*****na. Issue 2C authorizes the sale of medical and recreational ma*****na in the City of Cripple Creek. If you support 2C you also need to vote for
2B because if the taxation fails, the authorization automatically fails. Twenty-five-percent (25%) of the tax revenue will go to the Cripple Creek tourism marketing budget. It will bring in more visitors and increase revenue for local businesses. The City has significant needs and this will generate revenue that can help with water and sewer pipe repairs, street paving and repair, affordable housing and parks & recreation. This WILL NOT increase the use of ma*****na in Cripple Creek. Colorado legalized ma*****na in 2012 so local residents who use it are already buying it in other towns. Those towns are getting the tax revenue Cripple Creek should be getting. Leaders in Central City, a small historic town similar to the Cripple Creek, have said they haven't seen increases in crime or any negative effects of legalized ma*****na. Only the benefits of the additional tax revenue.
