Our annual flushing program is underway in St. Joseph and Stewartsville. This routine work enhances water service, water quality and fire protection in the community. In conjunction with flushing, we will temporarily adjust the water treatment in St. Joseph from chloramines to free chlorine. This work will last through June.

If a water hydrant is illegally opened, it can contribute to a water main break. It also wastes a huge amount of water. Depending on the level of pressure, 1,000 gallons of water can be released per minute. If a hydrant is open all day, over a million gallons of water could stream out! Keep them closed and report any open hydrants to us or 911.
