β˜€οΈπŸ’¦ Summer means more time around the water...

Pools, lakes, rivers and water parks are a big part of summer fun, but they also require constant attention and preparation.

Over the next several weeks, we will be sharing simple water safety reminders for families, pool owners and anyone planning to spend time near the water. From active supervision to life jackets and pool safety, small actions can make a big difference in preventing emergencies.

Stay safe, stay aware and enjoy everything summer has to offer.

πŸš’πŸš§ Choose the Safe Route

MoDOT is replacing the Watson Road bridge over Gravois Creek, and a designated pedestrian and bicycle detour is in place.

If you're walking or biking in the area, please use the posted detour via Watson Industrial Park Drive and Grant's Trail. Do not travel through the active construction zone or enter the traffic lanes to get between Pardee Lane and Brookview Drive.

Heavy equipment and construction vehicles are operating throughout the work area, creating hazards that can change quickly.

We know the detour takes a little longer, but a few extra minutes is worth avoiding a preventable injury or emergency.

Thank you for helping keep yourself, construction crews, and everyone traveling through the area safe. πŸš²πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ

We’re beefing up the signage along our bike/pedestrian detour around the bridge closure on Route 366 (Watson Road) at Gravois Creek. Please use the detour (Watson Industrial Park and Grant’s Trail) to avoid the closure. Please don’t cross through the construction area (as we have a lot of moving equipment) or step into the through traffic lanes – Neither are a safe route to get between Pardee and Brockview here. We understand it is significantly longer, but we want to make sure cyclists and pedestrians stay safe through the remainder of this bridge work. There are other ways to access Grant’s Trail near Route 366, including at Crestwood Plaza or the trailhead at Pardee.

πŸš‘β€οΈ Tomorrow is the last day of National CPR & AED Awareness Week β€οΈπŸš‘

When someone experiences sudden cardiac arrest, every second matters. That's why we're encouraging our community to take a simple step that could help save a life: download the free PulsePoint Respond and PulsePoint AED apps.

πŸ“± PulsePoint Respond
Receive alerts when someone nearby may need CPR before emergency responders arrive. Early CPR can significantly improve a person's chance of survival.

πŸ“ PulsePoint AED
Help build and maintain a map of publicly accessible AEDs in our community. The app allows users to locate nearby AEDs during an emergency and submit AED locations to help others find them when every second counts.

πŸ’‘ How You Can Help
βœ… Download PulsePoint Respond
βœ… Download PulsePoint AED
βœ… Register AEDs located in businesses, churches, schools, and community buildings
βœ… Learn CPR and how to use an AED
βœ… Be prepared to help save a life

As firefighters and paramedics, we know that immediate CPR and rapid access to an AED can make the difference between life and death. By downloading these free apps and helping expand our AED database, you're helping create a safer and more prepared community for everyone.

Get the apps. Learn the skills. Help save a life.

πŸš’ Training Never Stops! πŸš’

Hey everyone! Last week, our amazing team at the Crestwood Fire Department rolled up their sleeves for some hands-on auto rescue and vehicle extrication training! πŸš—πŸ’¨ We know that when seconds count, every skill matters.

Our dedicated firefighters and paramedics practiced a variety of rescue scenarios. They focused on how to access patients safely, stabilize them, and use disentanglement techniquesβ€”all while working together as a team. With vehicles becoming more advanced in safety features and materials, ongoing training is super important to make sure we're ready to rescue anyone trapped inside.

The time they invest in training today helps us to serve our community better tomorrow! A big shoutout to everyone who made this training possible and to our team for their commitment to professional growth and public safety.

πŸš’ Please join us in welcoming Devin Randall to Crestwood as the newest member of our Fire Department! πŸš’

Devin joins the department as a paramedic and brings a strong background in emergency medical services. He earned his paramedic certification from Southwestern Illinois College and holds numerous professional certifications, including ACLS, PALS, CPR, ITLS, Hazardous Materials Operations, and IFSI Firefighter I through the Pro Board system.

Later this year, Devin will attend the St. Louis Fire Academy to complete the requirements for Missouri firefighter certification. Once completed, he will serve our community as a Firefighter/Paramedic.

We’re excited to have Devin on the team and look forward to the experience, dedication, and professionalism he will bring to our residents.
