September is recognized as National Su***de Prevention Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about the pressing issue of su***de and promoting resources for prevention. This month serves as a reminder of the importance of mental health and the need for supportive dialogues and actions surrounding this critical topic.

Su***de is a multifaceted issue often stemming from mental health disorders, trauma, or overwhelming life circumstances. It affects individuals across all demographics, regardless of age, gender, or socioeconomic status. The impact of su***de is profound, leaving lasting effects on families, friends, and communities.

Being aware of the warning signs can play a crucial role in prevention. Some signs to look out for include:

Talking about wanting to die or to kill oneself

Expressing feelings of hopelessness or having no purpose

Withdrawing from friends, family, and activities

Dramatic mood swings or changes in behavior

Increased use of alcohol or drugs

There are numerous ways to support su***de prevention efforts during September and beyond:

Participate in community events: Many organizations host walks, seminars, and workshops focused on su***de prevention.

Share resources and information: Use social media and other platforms to disseminate valuable information about mental health support.

Volunteer: Offer your time to local mental health organizations or hotlines.

Educate yourself and others: Learn more about mental health issues and how to support those around you.

Resources for Assistance
If you or someone you know is struggling, it's important to seek help. Here are some resources:

National Su***de Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-TALK (1-800-273-8255)

Crisis Text Line: Text "HELLO" to 741741

SAMHSAโ€™s National Helpline: 1-800-662-HELP (1-800-662-4357)

National Su***de Prevention Month is a vital opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations about mental health and su***de. By increasing awareness and promoting resources, we can work together to prevent su***de and support those in need. Remember, reaching out for help is a sign of strength, and there are people ready to support anyone struggling

In today's fast-paced world, it's easy for seniors to feel isolated and disconnected from their communities. The "R U OK" program aims to bridge this gap by providing daily phone calls to seniors. Our goal is to ensure they are doing alright and feeling connected to the world around them.

How the Program Works
Each day, our dedicated team reaches out to seniors through friendly phone calls. These calls are designed to check in to make sure they are ok.

Our dispatch will make phone calls each morning to check in with seniors. This offers a chance to ensure they are okay and to address any immediate needs.

If a senior expresses any needs or concerns, dispatchers will connect them with appropriate resources or support services.

Health Monitoring: Daily calls allow for monitoring of the senior's well-being and identifying any health concerns early.

In case of emergencies, dispatchers and Officers can quickly alert family members or emergency services. If a dispatcher cannot make contact through the phone call, an Officer will be dispatched to their address to assess why they did not answer.

Seniors or their family members can sign up for the program by contacting our scanning the QR code, contacting our Community Service Officer, or visiting the link below.

What Participants can expect a friendly call every day, filled with warmth and support.
