Tonight's fish fry was another excellent example of people helping other people. Our community came out in force to enjoy a delicious fish fry and by doing so, they enable Ashe Outreach to help our neighbors overcome food insecurity. Of course, without all the volunteers working hard behind the scenes, it just wouldn't be possible. We are so blessed to have such wonderful team members who genuinely care for each other. Tonight, they served up 415 plates of delicious food for such a worthy cause. Ashe and surrounding counties are truly blessed and we thank all of you who continue to support this ministry.

Please know that we have a few changes to our schedule partially due to a holiday closure by Second Harvest Food Bank and partially due to AOM giving our volunteers some well deserved time off over the upcoming holiday week. Please see the attached flyer and let us know if you have any questions.

Ashe Outreach has some bad news and good news this week:

🙁 Second Harvest is closed on Friday so we won't be getting produce boxes that day.

😊Second Harvest delivered our produce boxes today instead (Tuesday).

🙁 The produce probably won't keep until Saturday since we can't keep it under refrigeration so we WON'T have a drive-thru produce distribution on Saturday.

😊 AOM will distribute all 100 produce boxes we received Tuesday through Thursday during normal pantry hours (9am-2pm). We will allow you to pick up multiple boxes of produce and also pick up for neighbors/friends.

🙁 We didn't receive any beef today to give away.

😊 We did get some chicken that will go in pantry carts for those picking up their monthly pantry food. See the photo for what is in each box.

Many of you have heard of Second Harvest's
Farm Fresh Nourish program geared toward providing healthy produce to those with existing dietary health conditions. Ashe Outreach has received 60 bags full of healthy produce to distribute this week. Next week and the following weeks, we'll get 60 more bags. Recipients don't have to be signed up with our pantry in advance and you can receive this produce weekly (not monthly like some of the other food items). Come on down to Ashe Outreach today, Wednesday or Thursday, 9am-2pm, to pick up your bag of produce. We are located at 117719 NC Hwy 88W, Creston (Riverview Community Center). Ashe Outreach will have a produce and food box distribution at Riverview Community Center starting around 9am until the food runs out. It will be drive-thru with a limit of two boxes per vehicle. Come early. Here's a photo of what you'll get. We are located at 11719 NC Hwy 88W, Creston.
