This afternoon at 3:24 Crescent Springs-Villa Hills fire was dispatched to 723 Meadow Wood Drive in Crescent Springs for a apartment fire. Upon arrival we found heavy fire from a third story apartment. An initial knock down of the fire was very successful. The fire was contained to the apartment of origin with some flame spread to the door of a neighboring apartment. 27 firefighters were on scene. We were assisted by Ft Mitchell (5) Erlanger (4) Edgewood (4). Crescent Springs had 8 paid staff and 6 volunteers. There were no injuries to Firefighters and no damage to our equipment. 1 civilian was treated for burns on scene and released. The cause of the fire was food left on the stove after a tenant had fallen asleep. Heavy fire damage to the apartment of origin caused $125,000 in damage. The value of the building is $895,000 and the contents $300,000. 19 pets were saved , 2 cats are missing but expected to be located outside of the fire building. Half of the 12 unit building was livable. Due to water damage 6 units had to have the electric cut off until inspected.
